For many years there has been discontent from Residential Park Home Owners who are obliged to purchase electricity from their Park Owner.
Most park owners purchase the electricity at commercial rates and are permitted to charge Home Owners at the same rates plus a share of the Standing Charge. As such commercial rates are not subject to the Ofgem price cap and Home Owners are unable to change their supplier to obtain more competitive rates.
Sir Christopher Chope OBE MP, Chairman of the APPG for Park Homes, has referred this unfair situation to Ofgem and received a response which gives hope of a major change in the future, where Park Home Owners will be able to choose their own supplier for domestic rates and therefore the Tariff Cap will apply.
The response letter can be found here.
